Why OMM?

Opening Move Mentor (OMM) provides resources that explain things in a way anyone can understand while also allowing users to experiment with their chess AI for free. OMM can help anyone improve, from people that have never played chess before to people who are already very advanced.

The Story of OMM and COMP

OMM was founded as two high school students with a passion for chess and computer science decided to make something that could help other people develop a passion for chess. Our goal is to provide everyone with free access to chess opening resources so they can improve as chess players. OMM is an interactive Chess AI where you can test out moves and see how an AI evaluates them. Through OMM, you’ll be able to see which moves are best in certain positions by inputting them into the AI. OMM is currently in development and we are looking to launch it in late spring 2024.

We are also looking to launch a Chess Opening Mentorship Program (COMP) in late spring 2024. This program will be a structured, in-person program where local students in the Bay Area will be able to learn about different chess openings. We are currently reaching out to local community partners to implement COMP.
